Admission Requirements
Listed below are the specific requirements and procedures that Antelope Valley Medical College has established for admissions.

1.  An applicant to AVMC must:

  • Have graduated from high school or possess a GED or pass an Ability to benefit exam.
  • Applicants in specific Allied Health programs will have required prerequisites.
  • Nursing Assistant, Vocational Nursing and Paramedic programs: Hepatitis B Series, a current TB test, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Tetanus, Varicella Zoster, proof of health insurance, BLS CPR
2. All applicants must successfully complete the Wonderlic entrance exam.

3. All applicants must complete an application and submit the application/registration fee stated on the tuition and fee scheduled, if applicable.

4. All applicants must complete an informational interview. Parents and spouses are encouraged to be present.

5. All applicants are encouraged to tour campus prior to starting class.

6. All applicants must complete financial arrangements prior to starting class.  If applicable, Financial Aid students must be complete.

7. All applicants must complete an Enrollment Agreement.
(Must be signed by a parent or guardian if the applicant is under 18 years of age.)

8. EMT prerequisites: Students are required to have BLS/HCP CPR and Drivers License

9. Paramedic prerequisite: Anatomy & Physiology or a Paramedic Prep-course, minimum of 1 year field experience working as an EMT, provide 3 letters of recommendation; one being from an employer, provide proof of field internship, BLS card.

10. Vocational Nursing prerequisite: Certificate of completion or high school transcript showing cumulative gpa of 2.5 or above and must say high school diploma or GED from an accredited school. Certificate of completion from an allied health care program, BLS card.

Acceptance to AVMC
Upon completion of all admission requirements, the college administration will review the information and inform applicants whether they have been accepted for enrollment.  If applicant is not accepted, all monies paid are refunded.
